Nobody likes a micromanager, so it's always extremely satisfying when their overly-disciplined regimens blow up in their faces. This employee was normally a completionist in the office, but when management decided that there was no such thing as overtime anymore, he decided to be more punctual than a Swiss clock, ensuring he stuck to his hours perfectly—even if it cost the company dearly in other ways.

Hours on the clock don't necessarily equate to a worker's productivity hours. Just because you're technically on the schedule, doesn't mean you're not scrolling on your phone looking at memes or cleaning out your email's junk mail. In fact, as many self-starting employees will tell you, your timecard schedule is really just a means to an end for micromanaging, giving management the munitions to monitor everyone's comings and goings. So when this company's management department decided they were tired of having employees either arrive early to their shift or stay late to finish a project, they cracked down on everyone's timeliness, effectively banning even a minute of overtime.

I hate when management starts looking over your shoulder. I used to work a desk job and had a micromanaging boss who would stomp around the office floor, glancing at everyone's screens and commenting on their productivity. Coincidentally, this same manager was the most useless scumbag, only decreasing productivity with his presence and putting everyone on edge despite their timeliness. Frankly, if this dingaling of a manager ever got on my case about being a minute late for clocking out, I'd probably find some way to retaliate—just like the dude in our next story.
